A few details about the book and author:

Neanderthin
Eat like a Caveman to Achieve a Lean, Strong, Healthy Body written by Ray V. Audette and Troy Gilchrist. The book summarizes Ray's health discoveries while dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Diabetes. It explains why a stone age diet is healthy and is essential in treating "modern" illnesses. The authors have strong feelings about chronic illnesses and modern foods and can be quite humorous at times. The book also contains recipes and advice about eating a caveman diet in the modern world.

At the age of thirty-three, Ray Audette was diagnosed with diabetes. This was devastating as he'd already been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for more than twelve years and walked with a cane. Tired of being sick all the time, and unhappy with what his doctors said couldn't be cured, he decided to school himself on these disorders. As a result of his research, he developed an interest in Paleolithic nutrition-a natural diet based on the science of what our Stone Age ancestors ate before the development of agrarian societies.

He then started on this diet, and although he expected positive results, he was astounded by the improvement he saw in just one week. His blood-sugar levels were normal, and within a month his arthritic pain was gone, his muscle tone had improved, and he'd lost twenty-five pounds.

His mission then became to share this information, so he developed NeanderThin, a simple plan for achieving a healthy weight, and most important, a healthy body.

Troy Gilchrist is Ray Audette's assistant and the coauthor of this book. He is a massage therapist and personal fitness enthusiast.

Moose, is California one of those states with an additional deer hunting season called a Primitive Weapons Season? An additional week just for cap&ball or less?

If so, just imagine a Californian hunting like the guy on the cover. He has a flint tipped spear. He isn't naked, it's the Primitive Weapons Deer Season.

Interesting. Does this include how the cavemen lived back in those days?? Fighting off savage beasts and gathering wood for fire and making a home out of primitave means (which helped burn off that tasty flesh dinner? Or did it also include that the beasts killed back in those days were not injected with rBGH or Antibiotics and other toxic crap?

How about how the meat was accumulated? Did capt'n caveman get it from the local bronto burger joint? or your local kroger? Or did he have to hunt it and occationally miss to survive??

Good Example: Native Americans and the pounding threat of Diabetes post reservation living. Corn never bothered them before and meat....why now?

My uncle giovanni archery hunts every year. It's like a religion to him. I know I'm getting me some DELICIOUS venison roasts! I refuse to touch that government regulated slaughter mess at the grocery stores.

Moose,

You are so gonna love this...

The chemical structure of sex hormones, both estrogen and testosterone, is made from cholesterol and the only source of cholesterol is from animals, both meat and dairy. Testosterone is the primary cause of sex drive in both men and women. Women also need cholesterol for egg production maintaining pregnancy.

If one sticks to strict no-meat and no-dairy diet, one of the most common side effects is loss of libido and reduced fertility!

In a no-meat diet with dairy, one must eat a lot of milk-fat from real butter, 'whole, Vitamin D' milk (which is least 3% milk fat), ice cream and cheese and the person still often does not get enough cholesterol to maintain testosterone production and libido.

Human's diet clearly was intended to be omnivore. Strict vegetarianism would lead to such low level of reproduction that the eventual result would be extinction of the human race.

WHere did you get that information?? Did you know that the milk from mothers (our human mothers mind you) has that too?
(hormones)
You can also get cholesterol from plants. Think Coconut oil and Avacados.

Just Google 'vegetarian, libido'. Greatly reduced libido is a well established side effect from long-term, dairy-free vegetarianism. Also children who are reared on a strict non-dairy vegetarian diet (past weaning) often have delayed puberty, sometimes never getting full sexual development. The cholesterol in coconuts and avocados is not exactly the same as from meat.

True, you can get cholesterol from the milk of any mammal... but not many adults get a steady diet of mother's milk to meet their cholesterol needs. Cheese, ice cream, milk (NOT skim!), etc., can meet the minimum needs for cholesterol if is large enough quantities. But many vegetarians eliminate or shun dairy, or use soy-milk. (Soy also has some chemicals closely related to androgens, but not the same.)

How many men go on a strict, nearly cholesterol-free diet for their heart, and after a few years of that, they are writing down brand names and phone numbers from those ED commercials?

Moose

I didn't say meat made you healthier... just hornier.

Nic,

There are so many sites about this, I would not know where to begin. Remember that it only applies to those who abstain from all meat AND all dairy.

And as far as your veggie-friend, Blink my Lord, what would that guy be like after a nice steak!?!Huh
