I am a conservative ind, But am registered as a republican and my wife and I never got a tax break,so crawl back into your hole
The liberals like to blame it all on Pres.Bush, but remember that they took over everything except the presidency on Jan.20,2007 and it was them that did what they like to blame on someone else as usual.Bill Clinton told them to blame someone else and then change the subject they only fool themselves

Don't try to make this about me with your low-life smears. This is about a minority rule by plutocrats who claim to be conservatives yet only want to preserve their good life of corporate wealfare. It is about a Republican party that lies and subverts media to misinfrom and hide their true character and acts in government. This country has 10% unemployment (probably double that)--it didn't happen overnight--we have had a constant job loss from mid 90's as jobs moved overseas greased with US tax cuts for global corporations. Since the Democrats won the House in 2006, they have been fighting the lying Republicans (special interests) since then. The Republicans after ruining the economy deliberately have been blocking every progressive move to reform things. Don't tell me this bunch of thieving murderous Republicans are conservatives--they only want to further enrich themselves at any cost--millions of lost lives in negligent health care, lack of jobs for bare subsistence and foreign wars where lives are just a casualty in the pursuit of corporate riches. There are no conservatives--they spend more money than Democrats--they just spend it on different things like self-enrichment instead of good of our citizenry.

First off, is this book written by an author with a neutral point of view or someone that had to put their slant on it so they could make an easy sell to people like you, lin? Secondly, how many of us really expect politicians to be honest? Granted, some start out that way then learn the "as long as I've got mine" attitude around the same time they realize they could make a lucrative career out of their time in office.
Did the Bush administration keep placing blame on the Clinton administration after they had been in office for awhile?(That was while my kids were still growing up, so I didn't listen as much then as I do now.) Don't forget the democrats ran congress(our king O. included in that congress) towards the end of Bush's term, so they aren't as blameless as lin & others would have them be. George Bush's term has ended & I'm very grateful that he did his best to keep we the citizens safe from terrorist attacks while he was in office after 9/11!. Our current king ran voluntarily for this office. He knew what he was going to have to "clean up a god-awful mess". If he wasn't up to the challenge without constantly blaming former President Bush then he should not have run for the office. Hmmm, maybe he thought his reign would be magical somehow, we citizens would continually kiss his as.... & everything would just go his way without a battle of any kind?

You're on a different time line than the rest of us. The Republicans managed to trash Clinton for 8 years relentlessly trying to bring him down. Short of a massacre, I don't see how the Democrats can make the Republicans work with the majority in Congress for the good of the country. They couldn't in 1992 or 1994 or 2006 or even now in 2009. The Republicans will do anyting to stall or stop any Democrat legislation. They fear nothing because they know they have nice, cushy better-paying jobs waiting for them with the special interest groups who pay them to do their bidding in office.

I have lived through many different administrations governed by both parties at one time or another. Whenever the Democrats are in control of the government, we wind up with increased spending for a wide variety of reasons.  The Republicans make all sorts of mistakes too. Maybe that is because both parties are made up of human beings. You know the critters that are always managing to stumble from one big mess right into another big mess.  Humans have made a tradition out of making big messes wherever they go. Blaming anybody for the mess that you currently find yourself in will not clean up the mess or make it go away.  As long as human beings are only human, no body can be expected to be perfect. Politicians are in a class by themselves.  Not only are they less than perfect, they carry that skill to the extreme point. Nobody can make a bigger mess than any politician! They are the real experts in that category. Anybody who expects politicians to fix anything or solve any of our problems is in for a big surprise and disappointment.

The same could be said about most people, not only politicians.
All of us are frail and vulnerable when it comes to protecting ourselves.
Captain Marvel, Superman, Batman, etc. and other such heroes exists only in the comic books.
It is more than a little silly to expect any politician to be larger than life and wind up in the heroic category.
No more so than you would expect your uncle, friend, next door neighbor or yourself to be included in that company.
There are some heroes who walk among us.
They are wearing the uniforms of the Fire Dept, the Police Dept., and our Armed Services.
And even among that tribe, these are scoundrels.
Human beings are NOT perfect.
