Is it just me, or does Simon seem to you to be alot more mellowed out this season?? He, to me, does not seem nearly as shockingly arrogant in his demeanor or remarks and I find myself liking him better....or should I say liking him for the first time ever...that would be more honest....hehe.
I thought that woman who acted a faint was for real....did you? She should try going to acting school instead of trying to sing her way to Hollywood. She not only did a really convincing faint....she also was a pretty cute comedian.
Now, that I've broken the ice.....
here's your invite to write about anything and everything having to do with American Idol.

I have thought of that, too, WEEZIE....about Simon, that is. Or maybe its becuz Paula left as they were always bickering about something all the time, but it was entertaining.
Actually, I don't care if the bad singers are plants or real ppl....I just enjoy the show alot as its all fun and entertaining. We get a real kick out of it. In fact, the more bizarre and terrible they sing, the better we like it. But, of course, we love to hear the great singers as well. And when voting time comes, we will vote for our favorites.

I guess that was an act also, as she will be joining him on his new show. It's all for show it seems even with those two. I find it truly insulting to those who are genuinely competing with their talent against what are hoaxes. America's got talent is not quite so bad but this last winner was ridiculous, you could tell that was the only song he knew and he won because they felt sorry for him and you never saw him again and probably never will.

American has really lost its tendency to intelligent critical thinking.
Simon is an entertainer.
Entertainers are in the job to create sensationalism to make money. America fails to understand this concept.
Rush, O'Reilly, Simon, the abrasive ones, well, non-thinking America sucks them up and makes them gods.
I heard today that Air America is dead as of this evening. It failed.
I am mostly politically liberal. I'm conservative in all other ways. I can't tolerate talk radio. I listened, some years ago, to Air America. It turned me off as much as Rush.
It's all America's lowest common denominator.
I am glad I'm old.

Heavy, heavy, heavy, jfloyd....sheesh!!!! Lighten up!!! It's soooooo nice to find a show that is entertaining AND clean. American Idol is just good, clean fun.....why analyze?? I have no idea what you mean, Weezie, about it being an "insult" to the real entries of the contest. WHY???? If any of it is fake, then the real ppl have been clued in that there are "plants", as you put it, put there to entertain in between the real contestants. I, though, am not convinced that any of it is fake. There ARE really ppl out there who believe with all their heart that they have singing talent who actually are hideous and have no talent at all. They usually have a big ego to match their awful singing, so nobody can tell them otherwise and they go stand in line all day to get their 15 mins. of fame. I am shocked and disappointed that this thread has had so few posts. I thought since A.I. is so hugely popular, this thread would be one of THE most popular ones in the General category. I am very surprised that it isn't. Me & my family watch it every time its on, so I was really looking forward to chatting alot about every aspect of the show, but guess that won't happen. Linda

Watching Idol for the first time in a long while. Didn't watch the whole show but really impressed with Didi the waitress. She's a professional in my book.

Charles Linda,
Actually, I have been amused by Simon, especially when people who sing as badly as I do try out and he knows they sing as badly as I do.
But I still have a point.
Popular culture is wonderful, but...we need more.
Popular culture is shallow.

Sorry Linda, but I can't believe that those that are terribly awful don't know that they are terribly awful. There are eliminations they go through before they get in front of the judges are there not? Why waste everyone's time with the dredges when there is so much talent competing? Because that's what draws the people in to watch, unfortunately. I don't believe those talented, honest competitors necessarily know that there are plants. They struggle to get considered as talent, the plants make a mockery of their struggle. No offense to you, just another opinion. I expect to see talent competing, not some of the fiasco's that they allow on. To me it's a waste of my time. There are plenty of levels among those that are talented to not need the amateur's. I think they make it a circus by allowing the ridiculous to compete just to get an audience. Why not have a show for just the terrible performers, from the sounds of it there would be plenty of watchers.
