What would we do without monkeys and apes?

Compared to us humans, perhaps the monkeys and apes were to good to just dump so they have been kept here to remind us about some of the important things in life that we seem to have forgotten.

You just might to read a good book that explains evolution on the simplest level to aid in your understanding of that subject. Simple is better than complex if you want to avoid having to look up the words in every second paragraph. I always find that the books written for kids are the easiest to understand, so those are the ones that I pick when I am looking into a subject that I don't understand. There is also a Evolution for Dummies which does a good job of explaining the basics. I have a copy and read it so I can recommend that one as a good place to begin. Do a little research and you just might understand why humans, monkeys and apes are all still living on the planet at the same time.
