My cats are older now and I think they need a better healthier food. They always did I am sure but I am noticing their age now more and more. I think I will be feeding them eukanuba cat food and was wondering if anyone knows by experience or word of mouth if this is a good, better quality food for them. Or can you recommend a better quality food then the usual store bought, friskies, etc. I will be going to petco today to try and select something good for them. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Weeze

Weezie, when I got my first indoor cat (a male) 6 years ago, my vet recommended a 1:1 mixture of Purina Indoor formula with Purina One Urinary formula.

I give them that with a side dish of Nutro-Max gourmet cat food for variety. I give them no wet food. Dakota (7 yo) and Geronimo (also a male 4 yo) have thrived nicely on that.

Their fur is glossy and there have been no digestive problems.

Just a bit of advice, check the ingredients and if corn meal, etc. is listed as the first ingredient, don't buy it..... it is mainly filler.

Thank you both for you input. My cats have been on purina indoor exclusively pretty much for the last several years. I couldn't find the two others you listed Laura in the on line petco. I did look at the ingredients for eukanuba and good life. Eukanuba lists corn as the 6th ingredient and goodlife lists it as the second. Years ago I had them on Science diet but they got to where they wouldn't eat it anymore. Then when we had all the animals die a few years ago, science diet for seniors was one that was recalled so that eliminated it for me.
My cats are 11 and 12, mother and son. I went to another indoor recently and Mom almost stopped eating and Son is over eating but losing weight so it's not giving them the nutrition they need among other things.
Corn is listed as 3rd in purina indoor. I am going to try for Eukanuba and will let you know how they are doing. The corn thing you mentioned is what talked me into E. Thank you both again for your input. I would have still been guessing if it wasn't for your opinions.

Weezie, the Purina One Urinary formula can be found at WalMart. It's a little more expensive than the indoor formula - but my furbabies are well worth it. I mix this 1:1 with Purina Indoor which I also get at WalMart.

I get the Nutro-max gourmet at a specialty pet store 'Pet Kingdom' and also at Olsen's Grain which sells some high quality foods.
This one is more expensive that the other two combined BUT they seem satisfied with lesser amounts of this food and they empty that bowl first so they really like it. I get the adult chicken flavor. (One of my finicky boys doesn't like anything with seafood in it )

Well shoot, I thought I found eukanuba at petsmart the other night but no more. Petco has moved and is no longer close to me.
You must have a very good Walmart,Laura. Mine is always out of the cat food I buy. I am going to try your way but I really need to find something that I can easily get. It's hard to get around or I would go to a far away petco. I will try walmart again. At one time I tried the purina one and they wouldn't eat it, I suppose I could try it mixed with indoor. When looking for E at walmart on-line It did list one product for pro max but I didn't look and see what it was. Ok, I am going to try and give Walmart one more chance. I wish they would improve their empty stock shelves!
