here is a story you did not see in the movie Titanic. In David Jeremiah's monthly devotional "Turning Point" he tells the following story of a true saint of God.

The Rev. John Harper was to have a speaking engagement at the Moody Bible insitute and booked passage on the Titanic along with his young daughter and his neice. On that ill fated evening as they were putting women and children in the lifeboats he was heard to say "and the unsaved" . As long as he was able once his children were secured in the boats he went around preaching repentence while there was still time. Later on one of the men who was saved from the frigid waters of the N. Atlantic gave his testimony as to his conversion. His rememberance was that of The Rev. John Harper swimming about asking people to repent while they still had the chance . The Rev. Harper was one of those who lost their lives on that dreadful night. Here is true christianity in action. dajcat

VERY Heroic! There are many Saints who are called by Jesus Christ to show their Christianity by loving others. Thanks.

A friend of mine expressed to me (she's a big believer and lover of God) that she's annoyed at the constant need to be "good enough" and how she sees how folks are seeing themselves as "Not Good Enough" .

She expressed to me in the best way I could have squeezed it from my brain, God says "Give Me What You Got!"

I'd like to get all your takes on this. Thanks!

People SHOULD strive to do their best and give their best to God. God knows what you have and what you're capable of. You should not beat yourself up trying to be better than you are capable of-- that could lead to depression and the thoughts of "I'm not good enough" when you do fail. We will all fail, we are human and we are sinners. Since we aren't perfect we just pick ourselves up again and keep trying and PRAYING for guidance. Also- never compare yourself to anyone else, since everyone else has their own abilities and God given talents.

Nic. The question should arise in her mind "what does God consider good enough". If she can't answer that question (and who can) then she should do what God said to do. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. david

One of the great Saints of the Protestant faith was Dr. David Livingston who went into the darkest , deepest parts of Africa to serve the people there who had no access to medical care.. Not only did he serve them as a doctor but also as a true servant of God showing them by example what it is to live for Christ. He loved those people so very much that he requested that when he died that they would bury his heart where he had served. His body was shipped home for burial but his heart was buried with them. dajcat

You misread the post, David.

My friend WAS saying....God Said "Give Me What You Got"

And was sharing it with confident faith.

I know my friend personally better than you via this net. Probably one of the things she does right is remove the "Should's" from her speech when it comes to faith. Should implies to regrettable past actions. I should have done this. I should have done that. I should.....

WHen you know darn well, that they wont.

That's why she shared with me in conversation: "Give Me What You Got". Becuase she believes that God has the power to transform you. No One Else. and by living by the "Not Good Enough" standards you are merely conedmning yourself.

Not convicting yourself.

But "Give Me What You Got" convicts the person to step up and take courage. Sure, no one's perfect. But think about it.

I thought it was inspiring and thought I would share this with everyone and get their thoughts.

I'm still interested. Anyone else?

sorry Nic, It seemed like your statement said she was asking wether she had done enough. There was no put down intended. In any event my statement still holds true. Nobody knows wether they have done enough so why worry about it. david

Wanna have fun this CHRISTMAS?

It is time to get out your CHRISTMAS cards list!
Yes, you read this right..... CHRISTMAS cards.
This is coming early (really early) so that you can get
ready to include an important address to your list.

Read on: fun with the ACLU!
Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS?
Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS card this year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the
CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send
them a nice CHRISTIAN card to brighten up their
dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says "Merry CHRISTMAS" on it.
Here's the address;
just don't be rude or crude.
(That's not the Christian way, you know!)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

Two tons of CHRISTMAS cards would freeze their
operations, because they wouldn't know if any were
regular mail containing contributions. So spend 44
cents and tell the ACLU to leave CHRISTMAS alone.

Also tell them that there is no such thing as a
"Holiday Tree." It's a CHRISTMAS tree!!!

Pass this on to your e-mail lists.

We really need to communicate with the ACLU!

They really DESERVE us!!

Terrorism? Hardly!

"Terror" comes from a Latin word meaning "to frighten".

There's no violence here.
There's no law breaking here.
There's no disregard for the safety of non-combatant here.
This is not being done to perpetrate a political goal.

It's purely the SILENT MAJORITY telling the BIG MOUTH minority
Enough is Enough!

Shame on you I read everything on page 8 of this posting. Questions were asked about what is good enough. I never saw the right answer. The answer is you can never be good enough. You can get to heaven only by accepting the sacrifice Jesus paid on the cross for your sins. It is a free gift from God so that no one can boast. Works do not get you to heaven ... only Jesus!

Pray Good works are like buying tickets to attractions inside a gated fair. They are no good if you can't get inside to the attractions. Jesus is the ticket to get inside .... good works only have value if you get to heaven. Once again Jesus is your ticket in the gate. Simply acknowledge that you are a sinner and sinners can’t go to heaven since they are not perfect; that Jesus so loved the world that he died for our sins and that we depend solely on him to go to heaven …. And then you are allowed to pass thru the gate to heaven.

Speak to the hand If you don’t believe me, read it for yourself in the Bible. The Bible is Gods divine Word.
God wrote it. Wouldn’t it be a shame that our Maker wrote a complete and detailed book on the creation of the universe, how it was created and how the story ultimately ends and we didn’t read it!

ThumbDown Side note on Catholics: I am an ex-Catholic and was plucked from the false religion by the grace of God. The Catholic church teaches a lot of truth … in fact enough so that you believe all of its teachings ….. but with enough missing or false information to lead you straight to hell. The Catholic church today is the extension of the Jewish high priests from Biblical times that were literally hell-bent on killing their God. Satin knows how to deceive well!

Moose how would you know? Have you ever been a Catholic?

In contrast, I was baptized in a Methodist Church, attended a Baptist Church (Southern) as a child, joined a Methodist Church as a teen, also attended a Disciples of Christ Church, a Presbyterian Church, and a Lutheran (MO Synod) Church for a while, and nearly 20 years ago, I became very alarmed at things going on 'behind the scenes'; how major protestant denominations were lying to their congregations and supporting Congressional lobbying for taxed funded abortions for no reason at all, and parents (the grandparents of the aborted baby) to never know... that the protestant churches all hid from their membership, under the non-sequitor name of 'Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights'.

I knew that to be true to my heart I had to become either a fundamentalist protestant or a Catholic. Unless you have done the church-shopping that I have done, you would be very surprised to see how much those two denominations have in common.

I converted to Catholicism over 15 years ago, and have never regretted it for a moment.

I have never been 'whipped into shame' nor know of anyone else 'whipped into shame'. And I have never known of any Catholic who 'slaughtered' anybody since the Crusades.

But as I write, they are excavating a house in western Missouri where they have already found the bodies of at least eleven young women who were raped and murdered, along with another half dozen girls as young as 9 who were raped in one cult's idea of a 'protestant' church ritual.

Due to the bias of the media, a Catholic priest who LEAVES the Catholic church to marry, gets more news coverage than these sickos who use their brand of so-called Christianity as a cover for their cult of sadism.

Mellow Recession is when your neighbor loses his job.
Sad Depression is when you lose your job.
Applause Recovery is when Obama and Pelosi lose their jobs.

Amen.

Scared When this gang gets re-elected in 2012 we will know the end times are very near.
