A term having to do with DNS. Each top-level domain name, such as Geek.com, is considered a zone, where subdomains such as server1.geek.com or www.geek.com are managed by their own DNS servers. Geek.com's Zone of Authority is all the subdomains under Geek.com. - "Lou" wrote in messagenews:_UYJb.39029$g77.8808868@news4.srv.hcvlny.cv.net... If you like to bargain, or haggle with the price of an item - forgetabout Bestbuy. You need printed proof from a local competitor. In addition, they willnot match wholesale club prices , (Sam's, Costco, BJ's). Bestbuy is the King of Rebates, but a problem with them honoring a refund taught me a lesson. They indicated that I sent the wrong UPC symbol for a MAG computer monitor. Well, I sent every freakin UPC off the box - so muchfor the $50.00 rebate.I tried taking advantage of a Best Buy rebate last year. Best Buy tried tojerk me around, saying this wasn't right, that was missing. This went onlong enough for BB to claim the rebate period had elasped, and there wouldbe no rebate at all.I threatened to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I hadnot one, but TWO, rebate checks within two weeks. LOL!
A type of memory developed by NEC. VCM memory adds some low latency SRAM registers onto standard SDRAM, much like EDO compared to Fast Page Mode memory. VC memory never took off, as DDR memory and RDRAM superseded SDRAM. - Franc Zabkar ha scritto:I downloaded the firmware for this modem from:ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/e2864i/firmware/e2864i_V3.01_Europe.zipFWIW, the file, "E28IEA.301", contains the following text strings: *F0 Deny remote configuration *F1 Accept remote configurationI too see them, however issueing them produce an error.I think maybe they removed this feature to make room for others (v.90?),like they did for the online quick help:== from firmware historyfixed issues in v2.00j----------------------.......2. A technology that is the phone company's answer to cable modems. It supports data speeds over 7Mbps downstream (to the user) and slower speeds upstream (to the Internet). Asymmetric describes how the upstream speed is different than the downstream speed. - Can anyone out there answer a questionfor me? There arehundreds of business assistance centersall over the country. They are supposedto offer you guidance when you haveproblems or questions or redirect youif you're going in the wrong direction. If the counselors and other people incharge of them are experienced businesspeople then why can't they handleconfrontations from people who goout of their way to be polite to them.I have had contact with a place like thisthat gives counseling free of chargebut however they are now offering anonline busienss to busienssnetwork and requested a feeof $50 for their members to be listedon it. I sent them $50 and asked themto keep me up to date and got an emailback reading, "your request to mailing listwas rejected by the list manager...noreason was given. " I called the personin charge of setting up the directoryand identified myself by my full name andmy business name and asked why shewouldn't include me in the directory. She actually hung up on me.You would think if someone is capableof offering buiness assistance they couldhandle a confrontation especially ifyou're not being rude about it. Maybewhat she could have said is, "I need to callyou back later." I was always taughtthat it's rude to hang up on someoneunless they're abusing you. In this caseI was just asking why I wasn't going tohave a service that I payed them for. It's tempting to ask them why theysent their advertising to my emailaddress if they were not doing businesswith me. If one of these places doesn'twant to deal with you shouldn't theytell you why so you'll be left withinformation that might help youresolve your problems.I followed this up with an e mailasking them to account for this butthey never answered me.Now I have to request my $50 backand hope they don't ignore this requestlike they did with the others.Saying, "your request to the mailing listwas rejected," in the subject line andwith no reason given is a calculatedinsult. What would you do if you werein this situation?graci@pivot.net"Scott de Aztln" wrote in messagenews:lu9sd01hdcohotf5nqnoql52uuf3qlb1k6@4ax.com... A lot of small PBXes will let you do it.But, just having a CD-ROM phone database and using it to look theaddress up each time you get a call will get you 80% of the way there.I believe that when Pizza Hut first set their system up, they weretaking caller-id data and using a combined database consisting of botha CD-ROM phone database and a database of customers and using that.If someone was not listed, the order entry folks would request nameand address and put it into the database. This is handy because in addition the database can contain informationabout previous orders. If someone is suddenly ordering small pizzaswhen they used to order larges, you could offer them a particularpromotion, for example. If someone is known to be a bad customer, with a history of problems, the order entry folks will know it.--scott"C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis."
