ISP Glossary:

Boolean logic - When you want to rent a truck, you call up and reserve the vehicle. You probably ask how much? Then they say something like $29.95 a day.At that point you don't get the particulars of the ripoff hiddencharges out in the open because who the fuck is going to sit on thephone and go down the list of fine print fees and charges with you? Then you make arrangements to get your friends and whoever to help youmove. Then you walk in to pick up the truck and of course you haveplenty of time to sit there and read the contract when there are 6people standing behind you in line because U-Haul is too cheap to havemore than 2 people at the counters to wait on people (they are ALWAYSunderstaffed.)They know full well that this is the mode of operation of theircustomers about 85% of the time. When you line everything up to move aweek or 2 ahead of time, you don't give it another thought until youwalk up to the grimey U-Haul counter with your buddies. At whichpoint, IF you decided they were going to rip you off, what then? Who'sgot time to line up another truck rental???Doing things like charging .80 cents a mile, charging $20. as apenalty for not refueling, charging some ridiculous amount per gallonto refuel, asking WHAT TIME you need the truck until?!?!? (it used tobe a DAY, as in a 24 hour period), are all things that don't make forhealthy customer relationships with a company such as U-Haul.AND, if you happen to not return the truck until 11pm or later and ittakes diesel, you are generally FUCKED, because unless you are goingto near a truck stop, you are not finding diesel in too many places at11pm or later.I only rent trucks from U-Haul because they are the cheapest rentalsavailable, but alas they are not in the end. They only pretend to be.As such, I recommend using a reputable truck rental company like Ryderwho also happen to have equipment that doesn't have broken doors, dirtcovered seats, and broken gates.Bob Ward wrote in message news:... He clearlyplanned to rent from U-Haul and only when he went to pick up thetruck did he find these terms. Yes, he could have askedeverything in advance, but people don't always do this. Wouldyou have suggested that he rent an extra day in advance and payfor that extra day to allow for problems at pickup? Or should hehave done a test rental to see what the fees really were? Howcan you possibly blame the situation where he had no choice butto take the truck on their terms as anything other than U-Haul'sfault? He had choices - he chose not to exercise them. It isn't U-Haul's fault he chose not to properly research the costs of his move. You throw in a few variables like having someone else returns thetruck when you're too busy, and they don't refuel the truck and youget stuck with the bullshit fees. Or, you have someone pick up thetruck because you're too busy and you don't get the fine print toread. Of course I'm sure you geniuses would have done it differentlyand I'm sure you pack your underwear individually in zip lock bags. The truth is, U-Haul acts like they're affordable, and yet they areprobably on the higher end of the truck rental companies in terms oftotal cost. The truth is, they don't maintain their equipment. Thetruth is, they are deceptive about rental fees. I've rented from thembefore and NEVER had to pay an extra $20. fee as a penalty to refuelthe truck. And I sure as hell never paid $.80 a mile. The truth is, their fees and charges are all spelled out, in detail, at the time the original contract is signed. Why should
