I just connected a Brother MFC3100 (copy, fax, print & scan) through a Newpoint surge protecter to my phone line -- Verizon provideddual analog and DSL. The FAX does not work. Even when ONLY the MFC3100 is directly connected to the phone jack, the transmission verification report says "BUSY: BUSY/NO RESPONSE". In an earlier thread, the solution for Abraham Siff with this problem was to use a separate phone jack for the FAX, like I did, butthis did not work. I have already contacted Brother and Verizon for hours, withno help received. Do you have the filter you need to place on the DSL line? Yes, I have filters on every device connected. Brother said toFAX only WITHOUT the filter, but that did not work either. It should work through the filter, like a modem would, have youtried a modem call through the jack the Fax is hooked up to? Hmmmm... can you hear the fax dial out and/or the response? Does itget a busy signal or just never get anything at all after dialing? ====================== I gave up on using the Fax for the past week. Yesterday, my girlfriend tested if I could RECEIVE a fax. Beforehand, I disconnected my DSL modem and my handsets from the phoneline, so only the Fax was connected to the phoneline. I called her on my Cell phone to confirm everything she was doing. My Fax machine rang when she dialed in, but it did not answer to receive the Fax, even though it was the ONLY device connected to the phone line at the time. Take fax machine to another location, an entirely different line, testit. I bought the machine from a store that's a short walk away from me. Would it make sense to just bring the machine there and ask them to test out the fax there?Sure, and they should do that at no cost. If it works, there's somethingwrong with the filters or the line itself. And at that point, I would takeit up with the telco.--Hooda Gest"In a New York minute, everything can change..."
