ISP Information:
A bulletin board system used to describe message boards that people would dial into directly with modems before the Internet was easily accessible. Instead of dialing into a network where everything is connected, you had your choice of a group of BBSs to dial into, and each one tried to offer the most members, files, and graphics to its members. Typically you paid for access on a monthly basis. More recently, the term de ISP Glossary:
Bulletin Board System - Was using efax.com free fax number but broke their rules andreceived more than 25 pages of faxes in one month so theyare killing the free number. I refuse to pay anything permonth for a fax number because I typically don't evenreceive even one fax in any three month period of time. Irequested some product literature from a flooring vendor onemonth and got burned. Ho-humm. It's efax's business.Anyway, ran across Ventafax.com for software and amulti-tech MT5656zdx-v modem as possible option to use oneof my computers with the second phone line as the occasionalfax receiver and answering machine. I do have a secondphone line for the home office but don't want to set mycheap hardware fax machine up for auto answer because I getmore voice messages on that second line than I do faxes.Any opinions on Ventafax software and the Multi-techMT5656ZDXV modem??Any suggestions?ThanksBob
