ISP Information:

A set of operations that allow scanners to have a standard interface to software. This allows the use of your favorite graphics package with your favorite scanner without worrying if one will support the other. As long as both are TWAIN-complaint they will work together. Check out www.twain.org for much more information.

TWAIN - x-no-archive: yesBill Rubin wrote: Me wrote: In article , ygr7@yahoo.com wrote: When shopping for an ISP, they always caution you to double-check that the access numbers you use will be "local" calls. If you live in Manhattan (New York City) and have a residential phone with area code 212, and you have "normal" service (meaning that you have untimed calls where it costs the same to talk for one minute or for two hours), is it safe to assume that ANY call made to another number with area code 212 or 718 is an untimed ("local") call? This question is ridiculously easy to answer on your own. Check the huge telephone directory that Verizon provides each year. The directory will have a table in the front part of the phone book that lists all the local phone exchanges and identifies which ones are a local call. If you have trouble finding this information, try contacting Verizon or check on Verizon's web site. No, this information is not in the phone book. It has which calls will be free if you have "flat rate" service, but there is nowhere that says "if you are in area code 212, all calls to 212 and 718 are considered untimed local calls". If you're so sure that it's there, tell us the page number. BillThey've done overlays in many states. In Oregon a 971 and a 503 could belocal or long distance. Say a family in Salem has a phone with a 503 acand they add a new line it's gonna be 971 ac. Same thing in Portland. Soa 971 could be a call across the street or portland calling Salem. Butunless you dial a 1 1st a long distance call will not go through. BUT wealso have Extended Area Service. If you have it then calls to localbedroom communities are free. If you don't have it it's 5 cents aminute. So checking with the phone company is the better thing to dowhen dialing a number for an ISP.
