You need a compliant BIOS and SCSI and/or IDE controller, a hard drive that supports SMART, and some sort of software package that reports on these conditions. Once you have that you should be able to receive system warnings about your hard drive. Many hard drive manufacturers have added onto the SMART technology or changed it around so that it has proprietar ISP Glossary:

Laws against yelling fire in a theatre aren't even necessary and are a foot in the door of infringing free speech. First of all, the theatre is private property so the 1st Amendment doesn't even apply. I can dictate to anyone what they can and can't say on my property or they can leave. Secondly, if they cause injury by yelling it, they can be prosecuted or sued. If they don't and everyone looks around and sees there's no fire, they can tell them to shut the hell up and kick them out of the theatre. No laws against it needed. In a free nation, government has no authority to forbid me from speaking because I might shout "fire" in a crowded theater. Government has no authority to forbid me from using my fist to defend myself because I might also use it to strike your nose. And government has no authority to forbid me from owning a firearm because I might shoot an innocent victim. -CA State Senator Tom McClintock Gun Woman Armed and safer Waiting for help from 911 could take the rest of your life.__________________________________________________Voice of Freedom post: I already explained the difference between absolute rights and abuse of rights.
