ISP Information:
A TCP/IP number used to determine to which TCP/IP subnet a device belongs. Devices in the same subnet can be communicated with locally without going through a router. When a TCP/IP device tries to communicate with another device the bits of the TCP/IP destination address are "ANDed" with the subnet mask to determine whether the address is a local address (broadcastable) or must be reached through a router. Would appreciate some advice.Firstly, Im running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002.I have a v92 external modem 56k from Trust which has worked fine for a fewyrs. Here is my experience.Boot up pc.Attempt to connect to internet (dialup)Modem detects phone line and ringsNo responseRetries a number of seconds later. After a few attempts it finally gets through.I get spasmodic data downloaded (and eventually i have to disconnect)e.g. Try and load a page - it fails.Hit Reload - loads no problem.Try and load another page - fails (maybe several times)Eventually it loads.Quite often if I try and connect to the internet it fails to detect themodem at all(Unable to establish a connection)Switching the modem on/off seems to resolve this normally.Id really appreciate some help in where I should go from here in trying totrack theproblem down.I should point out that my phone line is experiencing no problems from avoiceperspective. Thanks in advanceBennyAsk the modem what transpired during your last dialup session bysending it diagnostic commands (eg AT#UG, AT#UD, AT&V1, AT&V2, ATI6,ATI11) using HyperTerminal.http://www.modemsite.com/56k/trouble.asphttp://www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-inf.asphttp://www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.asphttp://www.modemsite.com/56k/usehyper.asphttp://www.modemsite.com/56k/diag.asp- Franc Zabkar--Please remove one 's' from my address when replying by email.
