ISP Information:
A transport protocol developed by IBM in 1985 for small and medium networks. It is the underlying foundation of NetBIOS. NetBEUI today can be compared to IPX/SPX and TCP/IP. NetBEUI is efficient for small workgroups, but is not routable, and is a more broadcast-based protocol than IPX or TCP/IP, clogging the network with packets if you have more than 20 machines. It does not scale well. ISP Glossary:
NetBIOS Extended User Interface - I'm looking for a device to interface with an IP-based PBX (Asterisk)that will connect to analog phones in a hotel/motel environment withmessage-waiting lights. These are neon lamps that are illuminated by increasing the on-hookvoltage from a nominal 48 volts to 90 volts.Ideally an IAD that connects via ethernet and includes FXS interfaces,or a channel bank that I can use with a PRI interface to the asteriskbox would be preferred.Has anyone done this, or can you suggest a vendor?Jay Hennigan - CCIE #7880 - Network Administration - jay@west.netWestNet: Connecting you to the planet. 805 884-6323 WB6RDVNetLojix Communications, Inc. - http://www.netlojix.com/
