Make sure under Display, Settings, Advanced you have at least 70HZ that would cause flicker.The OP is talking about an HP laptop. Refresh rate doesn't matter on LCDs. Now as for HP. Couple of things, I worked for HP for over 20 years and when I started with them it was a different company. Now after being laid off in 2001 (and HP kept the new hire I trained!) I can't say they have improved. Many of my friends were to follow. They company is ran by "fresh" employees with no skills, low pay and very low moral. I promise, HP will not help you, you are just a number now unlike 20 years ago when someone would work with you to get you a new laptop. Good Luck and I'm sorry. This is just my opinion
