newsgroup - For all of the individuals that have been approached by NorVergencerecently. I have a small Auto Repair Garage and I was approached byNorVergence. They took a look at my bills and took photocopies ofthem. They sounded really good. Too good so I decided to check onthem.Because the NorVergence representative's business card and thebrochure he left me with stated "Solutions by Nortel Networks" on it,I decided to call Nortel to play it safe and verify if Nortel Networksand NorVergence are in fact a "Strategic Alliance" as the NorVergencerep put it. Another way he put it was that NorVegence was a"matchmaker" for NorVergence by finding clients for Nortel.I went on Nortel Networks' website: www.nortelnetworks.com and didn'tfind anything on NorVergence. So I found the Nortel Networks NorthAmerican toll-free telephone number: 800-4NORTEL and I called it. WhenI got a Nortel Networks representative he told me, and I quote: "We'vebeen getting a lot of calls about NorVergence lately". He then went onto tell me that Nortel Networks is in no way affiliated withNorVergence and does not endorse NorVergence. When I pressed him forfurther information, he told me that Nortel Networks is actually suingNorVergence for using the Nortel Networks logo without permission. That basically answered my question about if NorVergence isstrategically aligned with Nortel Networks and that the "solutions"are not by Nortel Networks. This Nortel rep told me that the easiest way to reach any of them toverify Nortel's relationship with NorVergence is by calling1-800-466-7835 and then, when the answer system answers, pressing 2and then pressing 4. That way you don't go through the legnthyautomatic answer system.
