ISP Information:
A special networking port on a hub or switch that is used to connect it to a larger network. Often you need a special crossover cable to make this connection function properly. If you think of a network as a tree, the hub (or switch) on top connects to the uplink ports of the hubs (or switches) below it, and so on. ISP Glossary:
