The guaranteesays essentially that if you make a purchase and there is a materialdifference between what was listed and what was received, they will give youa refund. What I find unusual is that they explicitly say that you cannotfile a claim until 30 days after your purchase. They also say that ifyou've filed a dispute with your credit card company, you cannot make aclaim. The problem here, as I see it, is that if you wait 30 days before filing theclaim and then it takes them time to "investigate," you have lost yourwindow for disputing the transaction with your credit card company.Assuming for a moment that this is a legitimate program, and that Amazon isoffering this to encourage people to buy from their Marketplace, why wouldthey have this 30 day period before one can file a complaint? If you paidfor an item but received something significantly different (or receivednothing at all), what good is waiting 30 days going to do? I understandthat they want to encourage you to work with the vendor to resolve this, butif it is a "scam" situation, the 30 day period seems counterproductive tostopping this activity ASAP.Basically, they want you to work out the problem directly with themerchant first if at all possible. Also, since one of the largernumbers of complaints is usually anout non-delivery, they want to makesure the item has had time to get to you...medai mail can take severalweeks on occasion.I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon and only once have I had to resort toAmazon's help to get a refund and they came through pronto. The prohibition against filing duplicate claism with Amazon and withyour credit card co. is sort of obvious: They don't think it would befair for you to collect twice for the dispute and a chargeback costsAmazon some extra money.I spend probably five grand a year or more through Amazon and theyhave always come through for me, albeit I did have to nidge once ortwice on a problem (with their stuff..for sellers they seem spot on ifthere is a problem.)Jim P.
