ISP Information:
The British spelling of "fiber", i.e., "fibre" is used to describe this standard. Fibre Channel uses fiber-optic cable to connect computers or peripherals. It is much more expensive than standard copper cabling, and thus has been a niche product with lots of potential. Today it is used sparingly to connect RAID systems to computers, or to connect drives together within high-end RAID systems. ISP Glossary:
Fibre Channel - Hi,I'm going to be building a new system probably in the next couple months(long story, but Abit KT7 board will be dying from bad caps). I'm planningon getting an Asus A7N8X Dlx board and I'll need a new modem since my KT7 iscurrently using a Zoom 2929 ISA modem. This modem has worked great for meover the last 5 years, but since the Asus board has no ISA slots, I'll haveto retire the modem. :o( My internet is on cable so I mostly use my modemfor sending and receiving faxes (work related). I'm currently using sofwarecalled Mighty Fax (which is great, inexpensive fax software btw). I needchoices on a new fax/modem to buy. I don't mind spending a reasonableamount to get a good, reliable modem. If it's internal, it will have to bePCI. I'll be running the new system with WinXP Pro. Has anyone tried theexternal USB modems? Thoughts or opinions of them? Many thanks.Patty
