NVIDIA justified the name by stating that its graphics chip had a similar amount of transistors as then-current CPU chips. Now GPU has become a more widely used term to describe the complex chips that power 3D graphics cards.

Do I understand correctly that in addition to disabling both v.92 and v.90, s32=226 also disables x2 modulation (select models only) and enables v.8 mode whatever they are. Can you elaborate on those latter two changes? I'd like to understand more about modems. E.g., what would have happened if I had set s32=192 which would *only* have disabled v.90 and v.92?You would probably have a 14,400 connection, since you didn't enable V.8mode. (I'm getting ready for a trip and won't have time to experiment until I return so, if you know off the top of your head, I'll appreciate your comments. Is there a FAQ somewhere that may help me to understand more?)You are correct that it also disables x2, in fact it disables all 56kmodes in the USR modem. The default for S32 is 2 which enables v.8 mode.v.8 is required for all speeds above 14,400.
