Anybody have any experience with there computers? They tend to be junk. I work in the computer field. I use many differenttypes of computers and operating systems nearly ever day. I doconsulting on them, some programming, etc. In my opinion, you get whatyou pay for. That's why the money I spend out of my own pocket for mypersonal use computers goes to by Apple products. For the averageperson, you can't go wrong buying a Mac.If you are the type of who insists on buying a Winblows computer, eitherbuild your own with top quality parts, or buy a Dell. Another Mac bigot heard from. You assume that since YOU are forced to pay top dollar for your equipment, we should all suffer likewise. No bigotry involved, just nearly 18 years in the computer industrydoing consulting for just about any computer platform in existense. You get what you pay for. A lot of Mac and PC components are the samethese days, but a lot are not. The total cost of ownership for Macsgenerally comes in much less than Windows machines, esp. when youconsider the value of time fixing all the problems that come aboutdue to the poor design of Windows (including XP). eMachines are built from pretty much the same components as the higher-priced, more widely advertised boxes. I woprk in the industry also, and I have no hesitation to advise my clients to buy eMachines if the circumstances warrant. There's normally not a great difference in price between HP, Compaq, Gateway, Dell, or eMachines, these days. Yes, I do put my money where my mouth is - I have both a system I built to my own specs and an eMachine side-by-side on my desk, and my reliability record with both systems has been zero defects, over a two-year period.People who work in the industry are not typical computer users. You andI are very self-sufficient where our computer needs are conserned. Thosewho view computers as an appliance, not as a hobby, are almost alwaysbetter served by going with a Mac than a PC because the ease of usingthe computer and cost of ownership is more favorable to the Mac OS thanto Windows. Just look at all the wayward Windows users who still spreadvirused email around like wildfire. We Mac users have no such concerns.
