ISP Information:
A company that provides remote access to applications, typically over the Internet. ASPs are used when an organization finds it more cost effective to have someone else host its applications than to host them itself. The applications served up can be as simple as access to a remote fileserver, or as complex as running an order entry system through your browser. The ASP provides the servers, network access, and applicatio ISP Glossary:
Application Service Provider - Try turning on PPP logging. I'm not sure offhand how to do thisin XP; you might try the Win2k method: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;;234014Aaron---~ Hello all,~ I am searching for a way to log (record) the datastream which the pc~ sends and receives via com3 to and from the modem.~ Either by using a winXP supplied utility or by a third party utility.~~ The problem is:~ I regularly choose one of several ISPs, depending on time of day.~ All are set up by standard Windows' DUN.~ While on PC 1 (Win98SE, external 3com/usr v90 modem) I get good~ connections to all ISPs,~ on PC 2 (WinXP, internal SiS SmartLink v90 modem) I get connection to~ all but one of them. With this specific one, after the modems have~ successfully established the physical connection (looked into device~ manager-modem-debug-show log, sais V90 at 51100), the system is~ "verifying userid and password" until the connection times out.~ During this time there is some data-in and data-out, but obviously not~ successful. This data isn't recorded in the modem log file.~~ So several problems can be excluded:~ 1) the phone line is OK as PC 1 has no problems with it and PC 2~ connects to the same line; also the fact that on PC 2 I get all but 1~ ISPs working, even with v92.~~ 2) the modem on PC 2 is OK as I get all but 1 ISPs working.~~ 3) the networking settings of PC 2 MAY be inadequate for this ISP.~ However I tried several settings, I followed the ISP's recommendations~ (e.g. use only tcpip, disable "logon to network", use unencrypted~ password, no software compression), reduced max speed, disabled hardware~ compression, but no success yet.~~ So I'd like to see what my PC 2 and the ISP's side tell each other, and~ (hopefully) this enables me to find what's wrong.~~ Is there any software for logging (recording) the datastream while~ "verifying userid and password"?
