ISP Information:
A type of SDRAM that includes a small amount of SRAM cache memory for lower latency. It is compatible with SDRAM, but you will not get better performance unless ESDRAM is mated with a memory controller that has ESDRAM support. ESDRAM was never more than a niche product. ISP Glossary:
ESDRAM - Gail M. Hall wrote: I'm amazed that some of the companies who sent out such "report" or "error" messages did not have software bright enough to check headers to see that the messages did not originate here.Unfortunately, there's nothing in the header that can confirm or denythat the "From" field is legitimate. For instance, the company that Iwork for (InSystems) bought a company called FastForms, so mail fromusers @fastforms.com will be delivered by servers with insystems.comnames. Similarly, my personal account is @sympatico.ca... butSympatico is not a company nor even a division but a brand name for asuite of services delivered by many different Bell Canada companies, and mail from all @sympatico.ca users will be delivered by serverswith bellnexxia names. Not that this matters, because I send oute-mail with an @bigfoot.com address (which I can change whenever thespam level gets too high) in the "From" field, which forwards to mymuch lesser known but permanent @spamcop.net address, which filtersand forwards to my ultra-secret (known only to me and my SpamCopprofile) @sympatico.ca address, which will change if I ever switch toanother ISP.Any system analyzing mail based on the headers might consider allthree of these legitimate situations forgeries. The Sobig-F worm obviously steals addresses like other spammers do.IIRC, Sobig is one of the few viruses that forge the "From" header, and the only one that I can name which uses an address that it findson the victim's computer (as opposed to a fixed address.)Funny you should mention spammers, though, as there is currentlyspeculation that Sobig may be an evolving experiment by spammers toinstall e-mail distribution software on unsuspecting users' computers:http://news.com.com/2100-1002-5067886.html?tag=nlGiven the amount of spam that is currently being relayed throughresidential broadband users and, more specifically, my belief thatthere are not enough intentionally installed but unsecure proxyservers (e.g. WinGate) out there to explain the volume, I believe thatspammers are already using surreptitiously installed software tohijack others' computers. For an idea of how bad this is, visitSenderBase (www.senderbase.org) and take a look at the detailedlisting for broadband domains such as rr.com; in most cases you cantell by the reverse DNS name whether the e-mail source is acompany-operated mail server or customer equipment.Geoffrey Welsh This address is not to be added to any mailing list, nor to be sold orgiven away without explicit written consent.
