This type of storage is not as fast as DRAM, but maintains data through power loss. It is very similar to Flash memory, except EEPROMs are normally written to one byte at a time, while Flash memory is written to in blocks. See also EPROM. ISP Glossary:
EEPROM - "Todd Copeland" wrote in messagenews:PZKzd.10019$RH4.5689@newsread1.news.pas.earthlink.net... As Peanutjake mentioned, I'd contact the bank your VISA is through and dispute the _entire_ charge. Also, as he mentioned, you will need to follow this up with a letter to the bank. Let them know that you requested the company remove the entire charge as they did not deliver the service you paid for and that they have so far, refused to credit this amount. Then you can sit back and let the hotel work for a change. In the meantime, you bank will credit the funds back to your card. The hotel will then need to spend much of their time researching the problem and coming up with a reason you should be charged. If they don't have a good reason, or fail to respond within a certain time frame, the amount will be charged back to the hotel.I'm a bit leery of doing this. (I'm not ruling it out, I'm just going tothink about it for a day or two.)Reason: Last time I disputed a charge with a Visa CC, after much time I wasultimately told that the charge would be reinstated. It was related to asituation I alluded to in another post--I had rented a car of a specificclass for a trip to Denver. When I arrived, the rental company had no cars,so I had to wait around for several hours. The staff was incredibly rude tomyself and dozens of other people in a similar situation. When I finallydid get a car it was 2 classes smaller than I had reserved. I was stillcharged the same rate. When I disputed this charge with my CC company, the ultimate reply was (1)you reserved a car and got it, albeit several hours late (in fact, technically it was the next day since I waited until about 2 a.m.) and (2)the car was similar to what you reserved. They refused the chargeback. As a result, I cancelled that credit card and moved my banking elsewhere.I fear that this situation will be viewed similarly, since in my experienceCC companies do very limited "dispute resolution." I have disputed thingssuccessfully before, but it has always been for situations that were obvious(almost bordering on fraud). Example...Items ordered from an online store.Never received. No evidence they were ever even shipped. Those cases arepretty clear cut.I think my best bet is pursuing this with Wyndham directly. I have a letterfor the CEO written that I plan to fax to corporate headquarters tomorrowmorning. Hopefully that will help resolve this.If all else fails, I may pursue the dispute route. Big potential problem:I paid for this in October, although the services were for just last week.I'm not sure how this is viewed in light of the timeframe one is given todispute a charge. Obviously, I'm well past the normal 30 day window. At this point, I'm not ruling out any options.Tony
