CIDR - An item in the police activity column, or police blotter of theIndependence Reporter yesterday said the police had chased someguy driving over by 11th and Sycamore Streets who had come outof the Sidecar (a tavern by the railroad station) who jumped inhis car and sped away when they tried to stop him to talk abouthis condition (drunk and driving.) They chased him for severalblocks before they caught him, and according to the story in thenewspaper, he was talking on his cell phone all the time policewere chasing after him. They finally caught him when he ran uponto the sidewalk and into a fence around a house on 11th Street.Besides being drunk while driving, they also charged him withusing his cell phone in an unsafe way.
