One of the main components of most monitors and TVs. A beam of electrons is shot towards the CRT, and as the electrons collide with phosphors on the inside surface they produce light. Today, other technologies are performing better than the heavy and bulky tube monitors. LCD panels, gas plasma panels, and projection units are all in contention, but they still can't compare to the low cost of a CRT monitor or TV.
