ISP Information:
A microprocessor architecture different from CISC and RISC. VLIW uses encoded instructions that are even more complex than the instructions used in CISC. While RISC took instruction sets in a simpler direction by making instructions smaller, VLIW moves them in a more complex direction by encoding four or more instructions into a single operation. VLIW is used in the Hewlett Packard PA-RISC series of microprocessors, and ISP Glossary:
Very Long Instruction Word - I'd like to know if it is possible for a trunk call to come in withoutany origination information? Last week I got a call from apredictive dialer device. This appears to be prohibited under theregulations issued as part of the DoNotCall list. The way I understand it, to legally use a predictive dialer thefollowing must be true:1) no more than 3% abandoned calls;2) must ring minimum of 4 rings / 15 seconds;3) If no representative is available within 2 seconds of the callbeing answered, you must play a recorded message with the phone numberand company name the called was placed for. What I got was the 2 seconds of dead air, some clicks and the pleasehangup and redial message from the CO.I tried *57 & *69 to trace the call, but both responded with "can nottrace" messages.I called the Verizon Abuse Bureau, which is not open during the dinnerhour. I dialed 0# and was told to call the abuse bureau. I asked tobe transferred to repair and was told that I should have a "trap"placed on my line. I called the abuse bureau the next day got tolisten to a minutes long prerecorded message with several items not upto date. ... had a supervisor superviser call me back and tell me tocall the FCC to find out what Verzion was doing about call tracing./s/ Jim WIlliams
