Console Game - someone wrote: I finally canceled Comcast. It wasn't easy to do, but enough is enough. Since they took over from AT&T the prices just kept going up and up. They aren't the only one's. AT&T had a HUGE price jump in Jan of 03 and that's when I first noticed the prices just keep creeping up and up, way out of proportion. The same with Cablevision in NJ. They just moved FLIX to the highest tier (wehave the middle tier) and the bill went up $5 a month. There are NO good newmovies on the premium movie channels anymore. You have to pay extra on PPV orVideo on Demand to get a decent relatively new movie. And if you want to useVOD, you pay $5 per month in addition to the individual movie charge.Kathy Anyway, here's my payment history of increases for Digital Cable Gold Package with 2 boxes: 12/02 74.69 AT&T Broadband 1/03 82.07 3/03 82.43 6/03 88.37 Comcast 11/03 92.60 12/03 93.66 That's apx. a 25% increase in one year between both of them. If they kept it up, at that rate the bill would be $285 a month in 5 years. Of course they can't, but that should show us how outrageous the price increases have been over the past year. Comcast claimed that part of the reason for some of the increases was to cover the cost of the upgrade to the cable system backbone and for Internet Cable Access. I was happy with my service the way it was. Um, excuse me, shouldn't those enhancements and services be paid for by the people who subscribe, use, and benefit from it? Although they claim to have faster Cable than my DSL, I don't have their cable anymore so that's out, and I won't give them another penny of my money. I've signed up with a local DVD service and am getting much more current movies compared to HBO and SHOWTIME, and it costs way less. Sure I have to pick them up and drop them off, time I don't mind spending when I feel like it. It's been a good experience. I can still get the local major networks off my old antenna. I kinda miss some of the channels, but for leaving Comcast out of my checking account and saving over $800 a year, it's worth it. My computer DSL provides me plenty of other in home entertainment. Today 2 channels said not authorized. They want another 6 bucks a month on top of the 5 for those channels....................do it yourself and fine living. No one told us there are TWO platinum packages............AT&T and Comcast. So now we start to look at a dish. Also we've decided to go with DSL and not broadband when we go to high speed internet. I no longer trust any one at Comcast. I asked for a person to talk with and complain but they had no number or name for me. Comcast just lost a broadband customer and maybe a cable customer.
