This acronym is used to denote equipment that is sold to other companies or resellers for integration into systems. For example, a hard drive manufacturer may sell an OEM hard drive in bulk quantities with no manual or cables with the promise that it will go into full systems--or maybe external enclosures--and be resold. OEM - I think the main problem is that the guys/girls who design these siteswork on the satisfy-self basis. That is, do the pages look good? Do thelinks all work correctly? Does the customer (the site owner) think I/wehave done a good job.The trouble is that none of these people actually ever need to looksomething up on the site - so they never look at the site from anon-informed person's viewpoint - eg mine when I try and find out thespecs on a product etc.This non-users way of evaluating their work seems to predominatecommercial sites today - look at how many commercial sites have a'welcome' page - then you have to click to get to the meat, and many moreclicks to find what you want. They spent a lot of money to create rubbish webpages, I am wondering what for? O yes, the webpages are beautiful and look very stylish. But come on! What those companies are selling? Stylish webpages? It seems for me that instead of providing straightforward support these companies are working hard how to drainage consumers' brains and fill them with stylish nonsense.
