The study reveals an increasing sophistication inconsumer usage of email and in fighting spam, and shows, despite thespam crisis, a continued acceptance of legitimate commercial emailwhich continues to drive multi-channel purchasing.How Consumers Are Coping with SpamConsistent with the 2002 study, spam remained the number one concernconsumers have about their inbox (89% cited spam as their number oneconcern). Email volume was up slightly from last year's levels (264emails per week versus 254 in 2002), although the ratio of spam (56%)remained constant. This may be due an increased use in bulk folderswhich are now used by 52.9% of respondents versus 48.8% in 2002.Consumers are also demonstrating an increasing sophistication in howthey are dealing with spam.
