ISP Information:
Mathematically, this refers to the square root of the average of a group of numbers. You will most often see RMS referring to the power rating of an audio amplifier. RMS power is different than peak power, and is a more accurate rating of power than peak. If an amplifier lists a power rating in watts and doesn't say whether it is RMS or peak, you can assume it is peak, as peak ratings are typically much higher than RMS p ISP Glossary:
Root Mean Square - "Tony" wrote in messagenews:cqno0s$1fa@library2.airnews.net... Interesting. I don't carry Amex. I've always used Visa (as I did forthis reservation). If Amex in fact can help in situations like this, it mightbe worth picking up a card. I had a similar experience a few years ago in Denver where a rental car I reserved was unavailable and I spent much of December 25th evening in a rental car depot waiting for a car to be returned so that I could make itto my destination. If Amex can help our in travel situations, I'd definitely consider that a plus.Danny is incorrect in that VISA/MC does track charge backs and if a companyhas an excessive number, they can drop them as a customer. The VISA/MCcontract also has a dispute agreement, just as AMEX does.As Peanutjake mentioned, I'd contact the bank your VISA is through anddispute the _entire_ charge. Also, as he mentioned, you will need to followthis up with a letter to the bank. Let them know that you requested thecompany remove the entire charge as they did not deliver the service youpaid for and that they have so far, refused to credit this amount. Then youcan sit back and let the hotel work for a change. In the meantime, you bankwill credit the funds back to your card. The hotel will then need to spendmuch of their time researching the problem and coming up with a reason youshould be charged. If they don't have a good reason, or fail to respondwithin a certain time frame, the amount will be charged back to the hotel.
