The amount of text characters printed in a second. This term was used more when daisy wheel and dot matrix printers were common. Nowadays, printers are rated more by pages per minute (ppm), as the amount of characters printed are irrelevant to modern printers that work on a page-by-page basis. Although inkjet printers still go line by line like dot matrix printers, they are much faster, and it's easier to compare page pr ISP Glossary:

They add occasional featuresto things and have little helper applications, but their businessmodel is to provide support on otherwise free applications. They charge for service. In this fellow's case, he doesn't feel like he got what he paid for,and may as well have downloaded the Fedora ISOs from RedHat's site. Then at least he'd only have paid a little for what didn't work (costof CDs, time, ...). (Since he paid Fry's, I still contend that Fry'sis responsible either to see that the software is made to work orfor some reasonable refund, but that's Fry's issue.)You can't pirate free software, incidentally. (And no, distros arenot necessarily free, but most of the software is - just like thefreeware/shareware CDs they used to sell at WalMart. Of course, ifall the software is free, then the distro is as well, at least inthe case of GPL and most BSD licenses, and RedHat - at least in RH9 -fell into this category.)-TC--swap triangle and cannedmeat to reply
