ISP Information:
The gopher-based search engine that worked with an index of gopher menus around the world. The last VERONICA search engine on the nets is probably gone for good, but before the web's spectacular growth, it was a real workhorse for searchers . It supposedly is an acronym for Very Easy Rodent-Oriented Netwide Index to Computerized Archives, but since the archie FTP search preceded it in time, the name pretty obviously came ISP Glossary:
VERONICA - "Philo" wrote in messagenews:Xns93BDEC3611784philosaintchadorg@129.250.170.100... I've written an application running on a remote machine that should answer incoming calls and receive files. The remote machine is running an Aztech MDP3880, I have a Creative Modem Blaster "Flash 56". When I run the software on my laptop with a built-in modem, the negotiation works fine. But when I try to connect from the Creative to the Aztech, they seem to only want to make a fax connection.(I get the first tone, then the second tone holds, and the Aztech reports "FAX") Any ideas on what the problem might be? I've tried forcing both modems to v34 and that doesn't help...Sounds like your modem is being set to Fax mode and not being reset. Makesure it is set at +FCLASS=0--Hooda Gest"The only thing I do immediately is procrastinate."
