I wondered why they would do such a thing given that you can print out as many coupons as you want. I found the answer - McDonald's isn't honoring them. I didn't see the original e-mail, but the coupons seem to authentic - and the clerk at McDonald's didn't say anything about them being fake - just that they weren't honoring them anymore, despite the fact it says you can use them until 9/01/03 and that they're good at ALL McDonald's in the St. Louis Metro East area. Sounds like bait and switch to me. What email coupons? Just because the employee didn't say that they were fake, doesn't mean that they weren't. Why didn't you ask the manager for the full details? I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fraudulent coupon. I found a link to it here: http://pub101.ezboard.com/fmysticalmissysfreebiesfrm33.showMessage?topicID=50.topic And when I click on it, I notice two things: 1) it doesn't try to get the coupon from a McDonalds site 2) it's no longer there. BillIt appears to be someone's personal website where they've made a link toanother personall web site that had a pdf of the coupon. Nothing there lookslike it leads back to McDonald's. But, most likely, they simply recieved oneof the e-mails and posted it. Probably took it down for legal reasons. The coupon 'looks' real. I've little doubt that it originated from McDonald's.Some people at work had previously used them succesfully at a McDonald'snear work. The coupon doesn't say don't print this out multiple times. Allit says is one coupon, per customer, per visit. I met all requirements. If they (McDonald's) have problems with it being an e-mail coupon, then why didthey do it? That's why I'm steamed. Everything on the coupon looks legitimate, and I met all the conditions. If e-mail coupons are a bad idea (and I'm notarguing they aren't), don't do them - but McDonald's (and from all indicationsit was them or some ad agency of theirs) did and hence should be required tohonor them. I.e sure its a stupid idea, but its THEY'RE stupid idea. Don'tpenelize me (in wasted time) for it. Anyone with a scanner and a PDF driver on their computer could have originated this scam - I doubt seriously that you'll have any luck forcing McDonalds to honor an offer they had nothing to do with.I'm not trying to force them to honor it. I wouldn't want one now. But,presuming the coupons are real*, McDonalds wasted my time and did so withtactics I believe are illegal. That annoys me.* And I'll be questioning my friend on exactly were they came from when I seehim.
