ISP Information:
An interconnection standard introduced by AMD that allows for fast data transfers among the Northbridge part of a chipset, the PCI bus(es), and the Southbridge part. In a multiprocessing machine the LDT bus can transfer data between sets of two processors. AMD now calls this technology HyperTransport.

Lightning Data Transfer Bus - Some background: My part time home is a houseboat. It has an analogcell phone with data adapter (dialup access about 7200 max) and, whenin dock, a wired phone line (dialup access about 23000 max -- nobodygets faster than that -- too much old switching equipment). I wouldlike to replace both phones with a single wireless solution -- maybe aVerizon phone or aircard, a GSM phone with GPRS, Richochet if theyever restart Dallas.Besides personal Internet stuff, I connect to the office WAN fornetwork files and Notes by dialing into an ISP and connecting thru toa company VPN. I also dial into several devices that have modems only-- no IP connection possible to those -- using either a "dumb"terminal emulation program or a proprietary access program.I should be able to access the VPN thru a wireless highspeed datanetwork BUT the dialup modems are the problem.Is there any (inexpensive) service similar to the VOIP services thatallows you to connect to them via the Internet and then using aspecial dialer to allow legacy software to dial into a standardlandline modem, i.e. software that looks like a modem to the terminalemulation accepting AT codes etc.Any ideas?JudDallas TX USA
