A system left open and unprotected to entice hackers to break into it. Usually this is done so that system administrators can monitor the methods used to break in, the frequency of attack, or just to throw off attackers from the real goodies.

Honeypot - Got a new Polywell computer with a Agere 56K PCI soft modem. My oldcomputer on the same line usually connected around 49K. The Agere,however, never connects any faster than 31,200. I just checked againwith my laptop on the same line and it started at 49K.Any idea what's wrong or what I can do? I got no modem manual with thecomputer, and the owner's manual on the CD disk was no help. I sent anemail to Agereand never got any response.I've used modems for 20 years starting back with a 300 and up to 56K,but neverhad one fall so far behing the rated speed.Any help will be appreciated.
