ISP Information:
This is a network operating system developed by Novell. NetWare is a closed-source operating system that started life as a 16-bit OS, and moved to 32-bits with version 3. Management of NetWare was completely text-based until version 4, when remote GUI tools were added. NetWare initially used only the IPX/SPX networking protocol, and popularized the protocol. Version 4 added TCP/IP support by default. Legendary stories of ISP Glossary:
NetWare - I bought this modem a bit over 2 years ago and was using it occasionallyfor faxing on my Windows 2000 system. I had to reformat my OS partitionlast week but didn't touch the card. I can't get Windows 2000 (updatedto SP4 this time around) to successfully query the modem. I get messagesthat the modem failed to respond. When I try to configure Winfax Basicto use the modem I'm told it's busy or to that effect. Device Managersays it's "working properly" but I don't know what that counts for.I get similar behavior when I move the card to my other Windows 2000box. I seem to remember that I had a problem getting the card workingbefore in Windows 2000 but worked it out somehow. I guess it's possiblethat the modem died coincidently with my reinstalling Windows, but itseems odd. Should I buy another modem? I did a Pricewatch search on"hardware modem" and saw some Intel/Ambient "hardware modem" for under$15 shipped.I bought this OEM at a computer show, and don't know about any possiblewarranty. Thanks for any help.Dan
