This type of cooling differs from air cooling in that water is used to remove heat from a heatsink that makes contact with a hot microprocessor or other device. Ultimately the water may actually exchange its heat with metal and air, or it could be cooled by a refrigeration unit. Water cooling is more efficient than air cooling, especially if the water is refrigerated.
