ISP Information:
Shorthand for In My Humble Opinion. Often used in chat and messages by people whose opinion is anything but humble. Sometimes more accurately rendered as IMNSHO (In My Not So Humble Opinion). ISP Glossary:
IMHO - Dealing with telephone companies can be frustrating, but thereare ways to effectively get them to do what they can.===== I agree with that post. You need to prove to yourself that it is not your inside wiring. Once you are 100% sure that it is not, call the telco up and tell them that they have a problem when it rains. This is not all that unusual and the techs know that. Just keep calling and asking for techs to come out until they fix it. They probably charge $ if it's found to be your problem so make yourself certain that it's them first. I'm only 12000 feet from the CO and it took me three calls to get a tech who found the problem with my line. It wasn't exactly a "rocket science" problem either, just a bad connection on the pole. Still, it took three calls to find it.========If you have more than telephone connection inside the building on anyincoming line , segregate these from the incoming line by means of a plugwith lead and small distribution box at the master box. You then always canprove to the telco tech that the fault is 'on their side of the system'.Here in the UK , BT (British Telecom) provides a 'master box' where theoutside line enters the premises . A separate compartment in the box isavailable for the customer to add permanent connections elsewhere on thepremises. If the customer uses this facility there could be an argument inthe event of a fault. Hence a removable plug connected via a short lead toa small distribution box will avoid any hassle.Living in a rural area near the sea the overhead phone line at least once ayear causes problems due to corrosion ,since the pole connection boxes arenot sealed . Each time I have to prove that the fault is NOT on thepremises.Frank GM0CSZ / KN6WH
