ISP Information:

The standard that came after CGA and before VGA. It allowed resolutions up to 640x350 pixels and 16 colors from a palette of 64. It was soon replaced by VGA. EGA images look squished because the aspect ratio of 640x350 is not flattering compared to the more standard 640x480 resolution of VGA that corresponded exactly to the 4:3 aspect ratio of most computer monitors.
ISP Glossary:

EGA - Walt Howard wrote:(snip) I'm going to butt in and disagree with Floyd here. High-frequency attenuation is much lower in coax than on twisted-pair. That goes double if you're going to dunk it in the ocean. The people who build digital-signal equipment tend to jump straight from twisted-pair to fiber when the frequency goes up, so finding equipment that would load a digital signal onto your existing coax will be a bit of a problem. It should be true that coax is better than UTP. Though for a givenamount of copper, (and likely money) UTP is probably better. At higher frequencies the skin effect becomes significant on thesmall center conductor of coax. Two medium sized conductors on aUTP cable, using the same amount of copper, would probably be better. As such cable doesn't exist, it is likely true for existing cablesthat coax is better. UTP has been preferred for network applicationsfor other reasons than high frequency attenuation.(comp.dcom.lans.ethernet added)-- glen
