A list of computers and peripherals that have been tested by Microsoft to work with Windows NT or Windows 2000. If you run those operating systems on equipment that is not listed on the HCL, it is not guaranteed to work, but it might. Basically, if you install NT/2000 on hardware that's not on the HCL, you are on your own. However, it is done frequently with decent success.

I tried to reply to your post, butGoogle said it "couldn't find the message" or some such - so I'll haveto cut and paste and reply to my first message.I just received the modem today (ebay buy) and all seems well exceptthe seller sent the incorrect power transformer - I had to use the onefrom my D modem to make sure it was up to snuff. It still had theoriginal flash (circa 1998 or so). 5.4.62 is the newest flash onUSR's E support page, and I ended up using it (stand alone flash)along with the E .inf file and the latest ICN. I didn't even botherinstalling Control Center. It seems to work quite well - better thanthe 1648C-based PCI modem I removed.My mistake - I meant to say that I don't have call *waiting* - notcallerID. ICN is quite useless to me ;-) It works like a charm on myfriend's computer, however. One thing, though, I used my cellphone tocall in and it took several rings before the ICN popped-up. Almost asif the program had to "start up" even though it's already running inthe sys-tray. Have you noticed the same thing? I'm running WIN98SEon a Celeron 700 w/160 megs RAM. No speed demon, but I wish it wouldpop up sooner.I didn't realize the 03 had different chips / motherboard than the Dand E - I thought it was all a difference in how they came flashedfrom USR. I wanted a D since mine has always worked so well (and hadread enough negative posts to stay away from the E), but the 03 wasthere for the bidding, so that's what I bought. Now, if I can justget the correct transformer.Finally, you mention I should hang on to my older flash if I have them- the problem is, I flashed my D to 5.4.44 long ago using controlcenter instead of using a stand alone. Would this flash be stored onmy hard drive (I'm betting not)? Finally, when I use control center on my D modem to do an update, it logs in and searches, then keeps telling me I have the latest version of all software, yet I still have the 5.4.44 flash and not the 5.4.62? As many people havereported that the update through the Control Center has trashed theirmodem. I'd download the update through their website instead.
