I'm starting the thread as a clean slate for those of you that are still having email issues. We were just informed that all of our mailboxes have been activated with your current passwords, so new strong passwords should not be needed, but are recommended. We'll be building a new tool over the next few days to empower you to do this at your convenience. Please note, we have updated the webmail login links on the MyCopper.net portal. The best and most secure link is now https://webmail-3109.everyone.net/#/loginWhen you first log into the new webmail interface, you should see new messages from 3/4/2022 and forward. Older messages will be queued for import after you log into the new interface for the first time. The population of older messages could take as long as four days from your first login to the new webmail interface. For those of you having issues with your POP3/IMAP and SMTP email clients, the best server settings to use are as follows: POP3 Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net POP3 Port: 995 with security set to SSL/TLS IMAP Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net IMAP Port: 993 with security set to SSL/TLS SMTP Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net SMTP Port: 465 with security set to SSL/TLS or SMTP Port: 587 with security set to STARTTLS If Thunderbird or your respective email client return a certificate error, please change the location of the certificate to mail.everyone.net Once you have successfully logged into your new mail account, please send a blank email (No subject or body) to resync-me@everyone.net if you are missing any of your old saved message. Anyone still having issues is welcome to post a message here and we'll do our best to help each of you.

I have only Copper.net dial-up access for webmail in my rural area and am having the same problem as Voyager: https://webmail-3109.everyone.net/#/login is a blank page with only the gear icon forever turning, whether logged in to mycopper.net or not. I have a strong password. Does the new webmail system just not work with dial-up? Please help, thanks.

It may be that it is slow to load, but I should have more information for you soon. Do you have the option to download thunderbird as your email client?

How do I get to all my emails that disappeared? My contacts? I know i should back up move often but at least when I don't it only affects me. When you don't it effects dozens of people. I pay bills on here, that stuff is all gone. When can we expect to get everything back? I tried to call you on this and got the same response I always get from you. No one ever answers and no one ever returns the call when I leave a message. Will the stuff that disappeared ever be back? The very least you can do is let people know how bad they are screwed and for how long. PLEASE answer right away! Been with you 20 years and if all we are going to get is what we have now why pay for what we can get for free elsewhere? don't you care that many people have given you business for so long and paid your salary for so long? You don't seem to really care. I might be wrong but that is how you come across. Not a great business model is it? “If you want to piss off a conservative, lie to him. Matt, thanks but no Gmail either as I hate (do not trust) Google snoops! (I realize this is futile on my part, almost as much as still relying on dial-up, but some of us dinosaurs have no option!)

The login page there loaded immediately and logged me in immediately using dialup. As of last night, or sometime before, it stopped loading and behaves again as we described.

Receiving mail is working everywhere now. Using my username@copper.netI found that I could not send any email from my SMTP like Thunderbird but I could send email directly from copper net. On my SMTP server I just changed the server name to mail.everyone.net Port 587 and my user name as username@copper.net and was finally able to send emails.

Also, what happened to cause all this? It might help people take these issues better if we knew why. If you guys screwed up let us know. We all have screwed up before. What the heck happened and why? If this was a planned update why no warning that it was coming? No advice that we should make sure our backups are up to date? Those are not unreasonable questions are they? “If you want to piss off a conservative, lie to him. If you want to piss off a liberal, tell the truth.”

Has anyone yet, other than Matt, had folders restored? These are very important to my business and I've not seen them yet. Thanks Matt for your info to date.

nova wrote: PLEASE answer right away! Been with you 20 years and if all we are going to get is what we have now why pay for what we can get for free elsewhere? Hey Nova, I'm a dinosaur too - I might even be older to the service than you, but I don't remember the 80s/90s very well Up until, say 2 years ago, Copper.Net was my first email host besides BBS/Fido. Even when I got other emails, I still paid for Copper.Net email, because the service was excellent; someone always answered the phone (even at weird night hours)and the best part was that they knew exactly what I was talking about (calling them, "your gateway #xxxx is stuck and needs a reboot" or "your tracert is being stopped at xxx.xx.xx.xxxx, etc)I liked supporting them. Two or so years ago I started noticing glitches with POP3 mail fetch, but some were ongoing "wider internet" issues so I let them pass. Not anymore. The service has deteriorated since everyone.net started showing up in my servers list and this last outage was enough for me. No notice beforehand? No explanations coming after? I'm a tech for cripes sake and I don't want baby-talk - I want to know what happened, what's being done about it and why no one answers the phone now. Is Copper.Net only a name/advertising fluff? Who is "everyone.net"? NM, I'll WHOIS it myself. Here's what a good provider would do: 1. Advance notice of maybe 7 days. 2. A thorough explanation of what is going to happen. 3. When this would occur. 4. Who do we contact if we have issues with the procedure? Sadly, I might be giving up a 25+ year old mail service & handle because of this last issue. Not very professional.

Still cannot login: https://www.mycopper.net/WebMail/------results in certificate error. https://webmail.everyone.net------results in endless twirling gear icon. https://webmail-3109.everyone.net------results in displaying a place to type in mail and password, but there is no "ok" or "Login" button to submit them. I tried just using <Enter>, but nothing happens.

Matt, in pod #1 you write POP3 Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net POP3 Port: 995
IMAP Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net IMAP Port: 993
SMTP Server/Hostname: mail.everyonet.net SMTP Port: 587
Is that right for the SMTP host name? mail.everyoneT.net

Thank you for POP3 information. My client is still coming up with the old IP address - it would be helpful to have the new one. Thx

Hey voyager - just clicked "try your new webmail" or whatever; I got a spinning gear but it cleared in about 10 seconds. I'm not on dialup though; might take a little longer. Here's the url I get after logging in to My New Webmail! /sarc: https://webmail-3109.everyone.net/#/mail/list/msgFYI, I'm using an older version of Firefox (52.x LTS)for (reasons) and it sometimes doesn't like fancy web pages (which is what webmail is now). Can you try another browser, like Brave? (you might want to try it anyway). Haven't tried altering my POP3 settings yet. EDIT: No joy with POP3 settings; I've tried 4 or 5 different ones on a single account. - #2 just tried Gmail by installing their SSL Certificate manually and it worked in Eudora with these settings: Generic Properties:
SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com Authentication allowed checked Use submission port (587) checked SS when Sending: Required, Alternate Port Incoming Mail:Authentication style: Passwords SS when receiving: Required, Alternate Port

Is that right for the SMTP host name? mail.everyoneT.net Clearly the extra T must be a typo. I will try it without the extra T first.

If I could get copper.net POP3 to function again, it might be worth it - maybe they have fixed a security hole in their servers/everyone.net's servers that have been allowing dozens of readily-identified spam DAILY I've been getting for almost a year. I haven't really believed it - 99% of them would be caught and rejected at baseline by any competent server admin. 20 emails, all sent withing 30 seconds? Obvious spam. A simple filter would fix that. Yet this has continued. Sadly, it appears as if I must change an email provider and a handle that I've had for 25+ years here. EDIT #2 Finally got to the other (long) thread and am reading... #43 Posted : Saturday, March 5, 2022 5:45:13 PM Matt: I know I was a bit pissed off when I started replying on this thread but THIS post you made helped me cool down a lot: Quote: In my 24 years of working at copper.net, this has been the most poorly executed migration I have ever witnessed. Communication from the new company has been abysmal and our attempts to get resolution to the current issues have not been successful. I have been told by the new company that as soon as the migration is complete, these issues should be resolved. My hope was that it would complete yesterday morning, but it appears that was not the case.
This is exactly the kind of response a professional would make. I'm an older account than you (yes, we used to post to dinosaurs and have them deliver the mail) and all the crap started maybe 2 years ago? I'm talking dozens of spam email per day, that even an incompetent server admin could make a tiny filter for. I just got used to it but it's been a small aggravation. Thank the gods I have always pulled my mail down from the servers to a local (machine) account. Having been through many, many changes in the net from 1989 on, I don't trust anyone to keep my personal stuff "handy" for me. I can't imagine what people who used their email and left it on the server feel. I am glad that you, at least, feel us in this. This kind of post should have been made in the first day or two. We would at least have felt heard. I understand you've been thrown a nuclear potato and I'm sorry for that, esp as you are an old-timer with copper.net and know the service level was A+ for a long time.I have have reset, changed and reset again all my info for POP3 on Copper.net and still can't log in with POP3. The identical settings (except server info) have gotten me into Gmail, so I'll be trying to bounce my Copper.net email to the Gmail account. That seems to say that it isn't my local settings in error. Nothing's blocking Eudora at my isp end. There's two sets of login info; Castle.net and everyone.net; the settings given do not work. Maybe this will help; I dunno. C:\windows>tracert mail.copper.net Tracing route to mail.copper.everyone.net [64.29.151.234] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 13 ms 12 ms 11 ms 142-254-144-097.inf.spec] 3 155 ms 14 ms 27 ms 24.29.0.169 4 12 ms 13 ms 14 ms be33.blasohdp01r.midwest 5 16 ms 23 ms 15 ms be28.clmkohpe01r.midwest 6 26 ms 26 ms 24 ms 107.14.17.252 7 28 ms 30 ms 24 ms ae-13.edge2.Chicago10.Le 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 * * * Request timed out. 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 *exit Good luck, Matt.
