Has anyone reading this forum successfully gained access to their old emails? I can log in, send/receive, but all old emails and folders are still missing. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?

Response to Matt Regarding Mobile View(s ):

Matt said:
"Could either of you also try this, I know it's not elegant at all, but again just taking a shot at something.

1. Go to https://webmail-3109.everyone.net/#/login
2. Press F12 on your keyboard
3. At the top of the screen, in the Dimensions drop down list, select iPhone SE
4. Refresh the page.
5. Once you are logged in, you should be able to close the panel with the code on the right by clicking the x at the top right of the code screen.

This process should load the mobile version of the webmail interface and hopefully not load all of the javascript that the desktop version uses....

...This is correct, it should open the developer console and give you an option at the top of the scene to the mobile version of the page. Once you change views and refresh the page, I'm curious if it will load faster for you."

--The one browser I use does not have iPhone SE as an option. It has iPhone 4, 5, 6, 6Plus, also some Blackberries, Nokias, and Samsungs. Which one?
The other browser I use (Firefox) requires an add-on and it offers only iPhone OS 13_5_1. Would that work?

I'll let someone else try that mobile nightmare. BUT update on my situation:
Went out on the fast hot spot while using my ipad. Had absolutely no trouble getting in. No old emails though.
Perhaps that mobile thing is needed for ipad too so I'll save the instructions.
Still CANNOT log in on my regular dialup PC. Linking through the button on copper.net and the full email and password **** etc comes up and clicking it gives me an invalid. Manually entering and it goes to redirect and the page goes blank with my email name up in the corner. Stays blank. FOREVER.

As for Live Mail I changed the ports to POP3 110 and received messages. Sending did not work on 25. Changed it to 587 and it worked! So those trying on Outlook you'll need to change your ports I guess.

Still need my web based email so I can cull those huge emails! My connection can't do large emails.
Will keep trying. Any additional info on WTH we should do would help.
Thanks Matt.
Also thanks to all the copper.net users out there. It doesn't feel so lonely when there are others in the boat with you.

As you said before, your connection/wiring might be too slow, but have you, after some minutes (5, 10, ?), tried closing the tab that stays blank, and then loading https://webmail-3109.everyone.net in a new tab?

I'm still running Windows XP/SP3 with Outlook Express 6, and am now able to both send and receive. For those running older desktop machines (lacking TLS encryption), try the following:

E-Mail Account Configuration Changes, 3/10/22

Properties/Servers/Server Information/Incoming mail (POP3)

From: mail.copper.net
To: pop.everyone.net

Properties/Servers/Server Information/Outgoing mail (SMTP)

From: mail.copper.net
To: smtp.everyone.net

Properties/Servers/Incoming Mail Server/Account Name

From: xxx (your account name)
To: xxx@copper.net (your full e-mail address)

The outgoing/incoming POP3 ports remain the same at 587/110.

All the previous forum recommendations would apply to more modern operating systems and their accompanying e-mail programs. It appeared to me that, no matter how I reconfigured things, the download would fail due to the inability to establish a secure socket. Unfortunately, the only encryption I have available on my setup is 3DES and that is likely why the downloads fail. This would mean I don't have up/download encryption on my e-mail, but then I didn't have encryption for the past twenty years either. I don't really mind, as I rarely send any kind of critical information by e-mail that actually needs encryption.

As long as copper.net allows for unencrypted configuration, all the older configurations should continue to work. If copper.net decides to force the issues, all current desktop users with older configurations would be required to upgrade their desktop hardware/software simply in order to send and receive e-mail...a dubious proposition.

It's not working.
I use Thunderbird to download my email off of the servers. I am running version 91.7.0, dated 03/10/2022 (just updated).
I rarely use webmail. I access the internet with a cable modem, not dial-up.

Background:

I have 4 email addresses, two at copper.net.
Account #1 is my "permanent/public" email address, which is actually a non-profit's forwarding service. I normally point it to copper.net.
Account #2 is the copper.net account that receives my forwarding. I sometimes also receive mail directly here.
Account #3 is a copper.net account that is used by family.
Account #4 is an older account from the cable provider I use for some news lists, etc. that I care less about.

All email (from accounts #2, #3, #4) is normally downloaded by Thunderbird into separate account folders.

Discussion:

On Saturday 3/05, I tried to go to a shopping web site that was emailing me security access codes, which never arrived. I realized my last incoming email was received 12:03 on Friday 3/04. I sent multiple test emails. The two copper.net accounts could both SEND emails at that time, but neither could receive. At some point, I checked my webmail from the old home page sign-in. The OLD emails already downloaded were there, but newer emails I was missing were not.

Copper.net occasionally has "hiccuped" and not worked for maybe 6-12 hours. I thought it might heal itself again, even though it had already been down over 24 hours.

I re-pointed the forwarding service account #1 to cable server account #4, and between the two of them, since Saturday I have received most of my incoming email, except for family.

After the weekend, I started getting pop-ups when I went to get email. The first pop-up on each copper.net account was now username/password not valid, the second was the choice to retry or cancel.

On Thursday 3/10, I finally went to the copper.net website to find out how to complain, and learned of the forced server migration. After reading this thread, I used the new home page webmail access button, signed in with my old strong password, and was now able to see the new mail I am missing instead of the old mail I already had downloaded.

I tried the settings Matt listed in post #1. No joy. I also tried the settings that worked for msaiter in post #3 of the other thread. Still nothing. My security had been "none," but I tried "SSL/TLS" per this thread and "STARTTLS" per msaiter, and back to "none."

No matter what I do, Thunderbird still gets username/password invalid pop-ups for both copper.net accounts. I know the credentials are good, because they work with the webmail.

p.s. Thunderbird lists "POP" and not "POP 3" for incoming mail.

Sure would like my folders and emails back, it's been over a week since I logged back in.

I would also like to talk to a person rather than a cowardly message!

Any update on old email access? It's been at least 5 days and still no access to my old emails and I have 3 accounts. I only see recent emails from March. Maybe an update by the end of today?

The blog thread does at least make one feel less alone in this mess. I currently have regular slow but workable verizon internet. I usually get my copper emails on my desk through Microsoft Office for Mac outlook. No emails have come since last Friday. I also cannot access them through My Copper net in Safari, my normal browser that has worked in the past. When I click the copper net webmail button, it takes me to the new Webmail login page, but when I put in try copper net email address and password, I get "incorrect" message and when I try to reset password I get the "no security question" message so I cannot do the reset.

So first I need help with getting the password situation sorted. I dare to hope this wold give me browser access at least to future emails and those of the past week.

I'm only moderately competent with resetting POP type stuff, so need very clear directions if I should be resetting the account info for the outlook account for my copper.net email. It is called just POP account, nothing about POP3. It is currently set as follows: user name-- my regular coper net email; server information--user name is copper net email address, password is I assume my old password that will need to be reset; incoming server-- mail.copper.net with default prt as 110; outgoing server is again mail.copper.net with default port of 25

If you could copy the reply to this to my backup email which I am currently monitoring that would be great: lauraforhd85@gmail.com

Thanks. lmj

I'm starting the thread as a clean slate for those of you that are still having email issues.

We were just informed that all of our mailboxes have been activated with your current passwords, so new strong passwords should not be needed, but are recommended. We'll be building a new tool over the next few days to empower you to do this at your convenience.

Please note, we have updated the webmail login links on the MyCopper.net portal. The best and most secure link is now
https://webmail-3109.everyone.net/#/login

When you first log into the new webmail interface, you should see new messages from 3/4/2022 and forward. Older messages will be queued for import after you log into the new interface for the first time. The population of older messages could take as long as four days from your first login to the new webmail interface.

For those of you having issues with your POP3/IMAP and SMTP email clients, the best server settings to use are as follows:

POP3 Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net
POP3 Port: 995

IMAP Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net
IMAP Port: 993

SMTP Server/Hostname: mail.everyone.net
SMTP Port: 587

If Thunderbird or your respective email client return a certificate error, please change the location of the certificate to mail.everyone.net

Anyone still having issues is welcome to post a message here and we'll do our best to help each of you.

I was told 4 days till my old emails would be back 5 days ago. Where are they? Why would a business have no backups?

Those old emails were trying to keep me tied to Copper...not much point any more.

Same here, You can get free webmail anywhere. I stayed here for my old emails. Don't even post in or read the forums much these days so that was the only thing really holding me here.

No update from Matt yet but is he the only employee at Copper.net? Given the circumstances where is the president/CEO of the company? Even if this wasn't their fault given the circumstances we have been left in the dark too long. IS THIS THE WAY THEY WILL RESPOND THE NEXT TIME THE SYSTEM GOES DOWN? This is not the way to treat your paying customers.
