Middle of the month came and went
now I'm more than a month behind

How can you fall further behind
when you are in the same place?

Don't tell me it is Tuesday
Friday was just yesterday

No damnit no
How many no, do I have to say?

Starting to sound like my mother
break out the banjo, easier than spittin'

little of that squeese couldn't hurt

You too?! Happens to me now and then! I think you may have just captured the common condition of the retired. You ever notice in a nursing home that they have these BIG signs on the wall that tell what day it is and what the weather is?

Who gives a crap
Are these people nuts

kiss off

corridors of people
workers wandering

coming, going, up and down

families collecting their love
bed protected from them

Can we get coffee?

Not going outside
It is soup today, with totillas

Do you know what day it is?
They posted it there on the wall

They lie to us

He certainly captures attitudes - right on! ThumpUp

Even if depressing, it is a life condition. Do you suppose before we were, that we made a deal - we'd have the good times, but we had to pay for it with the indignity, the humiliation of abject dependence twice... once as a baby and once as a senile slobbering "senior" sitting sitting sitting.

Thank you both...I do this for my own sanity and to pay back for a time when fear stopped me. Don't give a rats pututti anymore...some times old is good

Life is hard at times, might as well laugh like hell, cause heaven is listening.

I love it!

A basic mystical concept in Kabbalistic thought is that we have three realms in which to exert inspirational control: thought, speech, and action. (This is very similar to the Eight fold path in Buddhism!) Though thought is the most sublime and most connected to the Heavenly realms, action is the realm where we must often times begin. There are parallels to be found in psychology, especially in some of the more extreme applications of behaviorism. Do the action, the feeling will follow—clearly this approach has implications for psychotherapy.

So, SMILE even if it has to be FAKED, and before you know it - it will become genuine.

Medical science has discovered that the act of smiling and lifting the eyebrows activates the muscles that release some chemical - forgot what it is - dopamines or something - that make the brain HAPPY!

I've experimented with it, and maybe it is because I expected those results, but it worked! AND, even rolling the eyes heavenward seems to uplift the spirit for a moment, while looking down makes one rather sleepy. LOL... I took some yoga therapy at a hospital, and one session was devoted to eye exercises. Some declare that doing these everyday improves vision! BREATHE... that is amazing, and so strange that we rarely do it RIGHT!

The body-mind connection is astounding!

Fall drifted through the front windows
ruffled the paper and slipped out the back

Senses surfing each gust
easy chair wave catching

Absolutely nothing getting accomplished
daydreams and sunlight doing magic tricks

Me with a cold beer and a big smile

He was kneeling in prayer
head bowed in humility

hand on the floor next to his inhaler
air of life hammering away in another room

Turned off the machine
let my tears flow

Stroked his back
cursed his death

Laughed and cried for him
the greatest man I ever knew

Loved us as nobody but God has loved us
He was my father, daddy, pop...

I've been waaaaaiting..... no poem about puppies, fishnet?

*sigh* Well, somebody's got to do it! So - here!

Fishnet says he eats puppies.
There ARE some strange eats.
(Some have swallowed guppies!)
I bet he sticks with normal meats.
But his diet may have one
of the kind we call hush,
or the older ones on a bun.
On this, I'll ask you to SHUSH...
(of those, I could eat a TON!)

The wind still blows
leaves still fall

I wish I knew the answers
I wish I could understand the questions

Leaves and questions
piled by the mystic rake

how does one go about their business
when they open their eyes and see the miracles around them

A new birth, a small bird, neighbors puppies
simple things that make you laugh

Would love to make it visible and then......
You have to reach out and find it

Mind wandering in a forest of memories
tripping over roots and spooky rocks

Body dropped in a lawn chair
just a bundle of meat in preparation

Prepared for what I don't know
somehow not too worried about it

The earth turns and the sun slips to my right
shift the chair to the east and shade

suddenly I realize that was a question
a question from my grade school days

looking ???????...........and I laugh

Slapped by the words
embarrassed for those that heard

Take it on the chin
they still have much to learn

There is no stomping off
big hug prevents it

Tears and anger and no understanding
let me go, don't let go, let me...

life is not fair!!! not fair
fair is not important, life is for living

Tomorrow will be there and the day after
tomorrow cares only for the life that lives it

Tomorrow is all the little things you do
yesterday remembers you fondly

Thank you
thank you for listening

Even without understanding
thank you

Thank you for reading my words
my heart thanks you

Even unknown to you and you unknown to me
thank you

my prayers are yours

Just when I was going
grand kids showed up

Dawg!!
He nailed that one to the wall

one inch finger on a hand
hand stretched out on a tiny limb

fearless in his discovery
pups jumping with the joy of their age

small face looking to see who was in this
Dawg! and they were face to face

way to much licking for a first encounter
Mama!....dawg stop...you stop!

perched in safe arms

the sky was beautiful
the light was too much to look at

the lights, the sounds of spring
exploded and exploded

I am not important enough to see this
and still God allows me

How do you say thank you to a God
that gives you a gift like this?

Touch a baby, touch your wife
love

A Puppy's Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep..
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move!
I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food!"
I sneak up slowly to begin
my nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up quickly,
I have sharp teeth-
I'm a puppy, don't you see?
For the morning's here
and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.
The one who hugs and holds me tight
And shares her bed with me at night!

how about this one ???

Poem For A New Puppy Owner

Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants.
Don't steal food or underpants.

Don't eat my socks, don't grab my hair.
Don't rip the stuffing from that chair!

Don't eat those peas! Don't touch that bush!
Don't chew my shoes. What IS that mush?

Eat your cookies. Drink your drink,
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!

Away from the cat box, it's for the cat!
And MUST you kiss me after that?

Yes, raising a puppy, is not for the lazy!
Though puppies are funny, they're also quite crazy.

But don't despair, though its toil and strife.
After three years, you'll get back your life!

So, let's go for "walkies", you can "do your thing"
And perhaps I'll get back my good diamond ring!
